Work one-on-one with an instructor who guides your development of a meaningful project geared toward a portfolio piece, design competition, freelance assignment, or other advanced goal. All of our instructors are working UX professionals with insight into the industry. Additionally, classes feature industry guest speakers who may critique work or speak to their specialty. The UCLA Extension Career Center offers job searching resources and workshops, and UCLA Extension Certificate students have access to Handshake, the UCLA Job and Internship board. However, this program does not match students with internships or industry jobs.
How to Get a Design Thinking Certification: The Best Programs and Courses
It focuses on core UX principles like research, experimentation and iteration. No coding is required, as projects deal with UX rather than UI challenges. I chose UCLA Extension because of the great reputation the program has and the caliber of graduates they produce. I was also impressed to know that each and every instructor [is] a working designer with great accomplishments.
Designer's mindset
This one-day design thinking bootcamp is ideal for individuals and small teams looking for a little help to unleash their creativity and come up with original, innovative ideas. If you’re looking for an intensive, hands-on initiation into the world of design thinking, look no further than Stanford University’s four-day workshop. Held at the prestigious school, this immersive bootcamp will show you how you can use design thinking to solve real business challenges. This six-month online program is ideal for anyone who is involved in the design, development, or improvement of products, services, and infrastructure. At the micro level, you’ll be equipping your employees and colleagues with highly valuable skills that they can apply to their own projects and tasks.
Product Management Program
HBS Online does not use race, gender, ethnicity, or any protected class as criterion for admissions for any HBS Online program. For the Input and Experiments courses, you’ll need to remember a few things from Algebra II, like how to use logarithms and what a mean and median are. No coding from scratch is required, but you will need to copy & paste analyses using the R language. You can use a computer to calculate, but you’ll need to know what to tell it. With its moving sidewalks and undulating glass canopy, the setting for Milan’s Salone del Mobile—the Fiera Milano Rho fairground on the city’s outskirts—has a space-age atmosphere that feels cinematic. So it’s fitting that a bona fide screen legend—director David Lynch of Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks fame—has designed the starring project at this year’s Salone.

Empathize and Prototype: A Hands on Dive into the Key Tools of Design Thinking
The Design Thinking and Innovation Specialization course offered by the Darden School comprises four project-based online courses, with each course designed to run for five weeks. Design Thinking Part I focuses on identifying a human-centered challenge to solve, while Part II shows you how to turn your ideas into action. Delivered in collaboration with Emeritus, this online program is for anyone—both teams and individuals alike—who is responsible for driving innovation and growth within their organization. Participants benefit from over 120 video lectures as well as three live teaching sessions. If you like the idea of a bootcamp but need something less intensive (and expensive) than that offered by Stanford University, The Design Gym offers a reasonable alternative.

Customer-Centric IT Strategy
This includes approaches such as creative conversation around ongoing project work, peer feedback, individual tutor feedback, interim submissions etc. The focus of the module is developing confidence in an awareness and practical application of prototyping techniques appropriate for different stages of the design process. You will graduate from the programme with a portfolio of work that demonstrates your own creativity, process and skillset, culminating in a final-year project tailored to the pathway you want to take into the profession. You will have the opportunity to showcase yourself as a designer through our final-year exhibitions. Through project-based practice, we will support you with the experience, advice, feedback and encouragement you need to grow as a product designer. The goal of this program is to provide you with the knowledge and tools to lead the process of digital transformation and innovation in your organization.

Professionals with the ability to execute on design thinking principles can gain a competitive advantage in a variety of occupations, from product designers and customer service agents to warehouse managers and hospital administrators. Explore how an understanding of design thinking can advance your career with edX. The course features five weeks of course content and two weeks of cohort project work, enabling the opportunity to put learning into practice.
For IDEO founder David Kelley, creative confidence is the belief that everyone is creative, and that creativity isn’t the ability to draw or compose or sculpt, but a way of understanding the world. To think like a designer requires dreaming up wild ideas, taking time to tinker and test, and being willing to fail early and often. The designer's mindset embraces empathy, optimism, iteration, creativity, and ambiguity.
The price and instruction is the same whether you are a certificate student or not. Some students may want to take a course first to make sure the program is a good fit before they decide to commit to the whole certificate. As long as you receive a grade of C or better, you can apply any completed courses to your certificate progress retroactively if you decide to join. This module hosts materials related to your final assignment for the course. The assignment requires selecting one of the design thinking tools presented in the course, writing a reflection, and completing three peer reviews. To successfully complete the course, you must complete and pass the final assignment.
You will be given the opportunity to work in groups on projects of relevance to your business contexts. When you enroll in the course, you get access to all of the courses in the Specialization, and you earn a certificate when you complete the work. If you only want to read and view the course content, you can audit the course for free. But to unlock greater potential and to learn how to work as a dynamic problem solver, creative confidence is key.
You may never be sure whether you have an effective user experience until you have tested it with users. In this course, you’ll learn how to design user-centered experiments, how to run such experiments, and how to analyze data from these experiments in order to evaluate and validate user experiences. You will work through real-world examples of experiments from the fields of UX, IxD, and HCI, understanding issues in experiment design and analysis. By the end of the course, you will be able to knowledgeably design, run, and analyze your own experiments that give statistical weight to your designs. The User Experience (UX) Certificate is perfect for professionals wanting to make a career change and learn in-demand skills from expert instructors.
